The camera does not matter. Many times I be asked if I should identify Nikon, Canon, this components or that model... what you should be asking is how many lenses you need for famous brands photography you want to capture. Yes, I'm talking here about Gear (more about compact digital below). Spend less money in the body that has the features you like, and spend the rest of your money in safely lenses. A very good very high cost camera with cheap lenses offers low quality photos; revert the order and you have a great combination.
